So State Farm wanted their customers to know how committed they were to help them figure it out. How? By sending a (shredded) letter to emphasize the importance of data protection and identity theft with a phone number for them to call to start the conversation.

A new life event can bring additional savings to your insurance policy at any time. No need to wait until it’s time to renew your policy. So to make sure that their customers were getting those savings right away, State Farm sent an actual detachable pregnancy test as a direct mail piece to start the conversation the moment they found out.

The reason is that people don't believe that they are ever going to get robbed. And if they do, they think that their landlord’s policy will cover the loss. So how can you convince consumers to purchase something when they don't think they need it? By showing how they would feel when their belongings actually disappear. So we sent our potential customers a postcard containing stickers in the shape of their belongings, but there was a small twist. The stickers were missing.
